I’ve got a gate so hopefully the secondary turbo doesn’t become a giant restriction – however if it does I can always change out turbine housings right? I've got a friend who had a 75mm as his secondary and it was pretty laggy - it was a wild ride once it lit, but it definitely took a little bit. I know the GTX would be a little better than his BW - but I cant imagine it spooling 1,000 rpm sooner lol

Explain more about your idea on the blow off valve - I've never thought of this before but it could be wise...?

Thank you for the great encouragement and sometimes I feel like I'm a little nuts for trying to make this happen - especially because technically there's no radiator in the car...just a whooooole lot of water to go through and keep it cool. (streamliner so there's no frontal area for a rad). It definitely will be a little challenging to make it all work, but at this point the wiring and computer have me the most stressed out - Bonneville Speed Week is in Aug and that's coming up REAL fast...

Sure thing! If you install a speed sensor in the charger and chop the throttle you will hear it bark which is it regurgitating the boost that it just compressed, well when that happens it kills shaft speed at the same time! A blowoff valve dumps the pressure so that it doesn't go backwards through the turbo which in turn will not knock so much of the shaft speed out of it. I have video of my street truck that I did some standing 1/2mile racing with and it is a vgt high pressure turbo with a pair of S475's feeding it which was good for 1400hp and pedaling it was definitely hell because even with the vgt it was easy to fall under the setup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smr-liVnSRA

Hope that helps in anyway bud! Everyone gave me shit for doing the 1/2mile racing but speed is a definite addiction for sure! Would love to do the Bonneville thing but I think I am getting to the point where my brain is telling me it isn't the best idea, lol!

I ran a compound kit that easily made 1500hp and spooled like a dream on the track and the street. That was fuel only 400% on a 1250us tune

It was a Garrett GTX4508r (80/87 t4 1.15) in the valley with a GT5541r (106mm t6) atmo

Can send some videos of the turbo's in action if you want, just lmk

If you wouldnt mind sending videos that would be great. If email is easier: [email protected]

Do you remember what the drive pressure was at full boost? And what full boost was? What was the max hp you hit with it?

What did you do for CP3's? I've got a pair of 12mm's - thinking that's a wee bit overkill, but I figured better to do it once and be done.

That sounds like a pretty wicked setup! I wish we had room for a 3rd snail - but as it is I'm already trying to figure out where/how to package a lot of this stuff...

We are switching to a Motec standalone and one of the things we will have is a turbo speed sensor on each one, so it would be cool to see the data that comes with running a BOV. I've run it on cars (which is normal) but never on a diesel! I wonder if we will need to run 2 of them? What size(s) did you run?

If you've never been to Bonneville you've gotta go - even just go fly in for a sat/sun and go hangout. The pits are NOTHING like any racing I've ever done: motocross, karts, sports car racing, desert racing, short course, etc - Everyone is so open and talkative in the pits and is completely open about what they're doing and running and love to BS about horsepower and speed. It's a little unnerving putting your right foot to the floor for 7 miles though! lol Just go this year just for the experience - it's definitely unlike anything else!
