Cold Weather

I know some of you folks are still enjoying 70 and 80 degree weather but some of us are in the 30s and 40s already. This is the first winter with the dmax and I'm already noticing it taking longer to warn up. Is there any GOOD aftermarket product out there to block the grill? I could remove the fan, im sure that would help some but...new stuff for the truck is more fun. So what are you guys using? Thanks for the help!

i use a winter grill cover. You can get them from your gm dealer or your truck may have come with one, check under your back seat where your spare tire stuff is.

i have pulled the plastic cover on then top and stuck cardboard to close up the rad opening betweein CAC and RAD..

See i checked on the gm cover. That was what I wanted. I was told its discontinued. My wife works there so I dont think they would bs me. Then again what do I know. Anyone else heard of this?

I checked the truck the day I got it. I was hoping it would still be in there...no such luck.

The block heater doesn't help or you have no place to plug in. I'm new to diesels and was hoping the block heater would be the answer

IMO block heater would be better... i know several guys run it on a timer to trun on 1-3 hours before they plan on driving it..

as far as i know they still make the winter covers??? they did start using the same cover for the 03-04 and 05-07

Yeah the block heater should help but i dont know if its cold enough for that just yet. Does anyone have a good part number for the gm cover? Thanks for the quick answers!!!

Y'all can keep that weather up there...it was in the 50's here today and thats cold enough for me.

As for the winter prep...My truck didn't have the winter cover either. I just plug my truck in if it is going to get below freezing at night, then fire it up 10 minutes before I plan to drive it. I do need to turn it back to stock here soon.

I love block heaters, ive plugged in at 50-60*F. Warmth is a good thing! All that much faster to opperating temps!

my '02 came with the cover still under the back seat...i don't think it's ever been used, lol.

I usually run the grill cover once it's below 0C (32F). I don't plug mine in until it's below -12C (10F) or so. If it's going to be really cold I will zip tie a piece of cardboard over my bumper vents to keep the trans a bit warmer. My truck doesn't like being plugged in above -10C (14F).
