i have cognito uca's on my truck since it used to be leveled but now i decided to lower it by turning down the torsion bars all the way and taking out the overloads and putting 3" drop shackles on but now i was told by the alignment shop today that i should pry put the stock uca's back on. i did take the ball joints out and bolt them in through the top of the uca when i lowered it and to me they dont look like there a bad angle so why would i need to change them back to stock??

You will be just fine with doing it the way you did. Mine is lowered 2-3 from stock. No issues with wear or ride or articulation in the suspension.

I'm on the same path you are. I want to lower mine for better handling, if you can post the specs they used when they aligned it, that would be appreciated.

I had the cognito uca's on my old Lly with a 2/4 drop. Couldn't get the camber right as much as I tried.

Cognito arm ball joint angle allows for 28% more travel than a factory arm when leveled. The angle of the arm allows this. By lowering below factory ht., your actually making ball joint angles worse than if a factory arm was used.

Same here. Lowered the front till the cvs were about flat and they could not get caster in spec. The ball joint angles were not good too. Went back to the stock acdelco arms and the alignment is in spec and ball joint angles are good.

So I had leveling keys in with the cognito uca and i took the keys out and put stock keys in and set at stock hieght. I still need to get rid of my bilsteins for leveled trucks and get rancho rs9000xl stock height shocks. I did 2in drop in rear.

Is anyone having problems using the cognito arms at stockheight with the ball joints ran threw the top? or is it just if your lowering the front all the way down?

I'm still running my bilsteins for leveled trucks. And it rides OK. But as soon as I get the chance I will be getting ranchos for stock height trucks. I am running a 3inch drop shackle in the rear and up front my cv's are flat. Running it like that in the front and using cognito uca's the ball joint angle was not good. I had to raise up the front a little to get the ball joint angle a little better. My ball joints were going through the top of the arms also. Also I could not get caster in spec. I went back to stock arms and dropped the front a little lower. All angles are good now and alignment is in spec. If your going to run the front at stock height you should be OK. Going lower than stock you need the run stock arms.

My cv angles are flat, ball joints are strait and they where able to align to spec. It's dropped abt 4 in the front and 5 in the rear. Still have all the OEM springs in the rear sticks to the road like its on rails.

Did you take out leveling keys and put stock keys in?
Thanks

There is no issue running Cognito arms with factory keys. The Bilstein's are fine the way you are setup as well.
