I replaced my stock inner/outer tie rods with Cognitos about 40K miles ago, nothing wrong with the originals but I wasn't impressed with the anemic looking OEM stuff. I don't race or pull but I do tow a 5th wheel and didn't want my stock tie rods folding if I had to use 4WD to get into a boonie spot. I was lubing my suspension the other day and noticed a lot of play in the Cognito inners, I guess somehow I thought something that expensive would hold up a lot better but apparently not. Anybody have recommendations on a good, modest priced tie rod set? I don't think I'm going to spend another $400+ on Cognitos!

I just had rare parts installed on my truck and I have no real miles on they seem to be very high quality and a lot of guys are running them with great success

They might prorate or warranty them. Cognito had a bad run when they tried using another supplier. I had my inners go bad too.

Cognito sucks, never had good luck with any of their steering parts. Rare parts or kryptonite is the way to go.

Ally Fox- Monday contact Nick Martin at Cognito, let him know Russ sent you. Hes already in the loop & will help you with the warranty. They did have some issues early on that are fixed now.

Thanks Russ, I'll try that. I've tried calling Cognito numerous times but nobody answers when I punch the sales or cust service # and I'm reluctant to leave a message as I'm in and out a lot.

I think you are underestimating the strength of the stock rods/ends. Put some $40 sleeves on the stock ones and you won't break them. It is a lot easier to get replacements if needed too.

Mine went out with only 25k on them. Cognito is garbage don't ever use thier products.

X2 .

Lift kits are ok but their steering stuff is junk.
I am running the Fabtech tie rods now. They seem to hold up ok.
