Hmmmm doin a lil research for ya...

Maryland.... whats the weather like today? Cold? Seems like this is somtimes a cold start issue having to do with weak batteries.

The P0802 is an ECM code that sets when the transmission module requests that it turn on the check engine light. What that means is the transmission set one or more codes but to access them you need to look in TCM, not the ECM. Unfortunately, without knowing what the transmission codes are we can be of little help. If the dealer cannot tell you take it to an Autozone.

knock on wood I think we got mine fixed today. Ignition switch! It kept getting worse and worse and setting more and more codes. Today it had low voltage codes for the TCM, ECM, BCM, ICP, and transfer case. Changed out the ignition switch and hasn't acted up since.

These are a couple things Ive found... so check batteries, clear codes and see if it happens again, or possibly a bad ignition switch. Seems like its an indicator for something else though... no other codes?

I used to get them all the time, every full throttle pass. MIL 0802 that is, MIL malfunction indicator light, right. Meaning something is outside the design parameters/wrong.

I was told a tech 2 recognizes the code but doesn't know what it is?

Maybe the TECH 2 we used wasn't updated?

I'd like to know as well.:)

it was the 2nd time ive had the code in 2 months or so. it was actually warm this morning when i left,IIRC 50 degrees. so i have to look in the TCM to actually see what the codes are, correct? how do i do that with my flashscan? does the laptop have to be hooked up to do this?

No, Well i haven't used mine in almost 3 months so i could be mistaken. If i don't write it down i forget... I write alot!

Plug the cord in to the reader and then into the OBD port and follow the arrow prompts to check for DTC's. I used to get them (codes) in 2 places, reader and the BANKS PDA, IIRC.

To answer your question no, you don't need the lap top.
