Ok so after changing my oil, i let the truck idle for awhile. As it was idling dad noticed the knock that ive known about for awhile. Dad was extremely worried that it was a rod. I was told that it was injector knock. It only does the knock when the truck is in park, but once in gear it goes away.

But while we were listening to the knock, my truck set off a familiar code:

P0308

I've had this code before several times, I simply would clear it and do my best to add additives in hopes of fixing or resolving the problem. Well it came back to haunt me again. Dad has made it clear if it's something major like a rod or something worse, that he was not going to help me (thanks dad  )

So whats the deal? Is it a rod? injector? What should I be worried about, cause now I'm nervous as hell.

What was the balance rate on that injector compared to the rest?

Have you ever done a compression test? If not, you better do one, just to get the information. Otherwise, you're just throwing darts at a board.

I'm pretty sure I suggested the same thing the last time he asked about it.

X2 I got a P0305 when my #5 injector was going bad. Seemed as if the injector was stuck closed as my balance rate was +15 and it had a dead miss. Replaced and its been fine. #8 is the pass side back so its pretty easy to get to.

Since it went away and came back, it is likely that it is an injector having a bad hair day, but as simple as it is to do a compression check, there is no reason not to.
