Texas Y'all
I added a copilot to my scIV last year. It has never seemed to shift very good every since. Im not gonna be running n20 anymore since ill be installing a gt4088, should i just ditch the copilot? I think my tranny needs refreshened soon anyways so i was thinking about just taking it off when i do. The trucks used for a little drag racing and sledpulling.

I blame it as 75% of the reason my tranny hung up and broke on the 3-4 shift, wont be turning it on again for quite a while...........

the co-pilot used to be the answer to the allisons tendancy to hang and not lock the converter, used to be proven to drop .1 or .2 off et....what happend?

**I am no expert (not even close)** but I wonder if the convertors are designed to lock better now and with the TCM tuning capabilites that are now out it just isnt needed. We've all heard about how the 1058 locks "harder" for various people. I think the hard lock of the 58 and the copilot on top of that was a recipe for disaster for me.

Are those of you with Copilot problems using a shift kit with your SC4's etc.

If so use the stock valve body, ARG!!!!! Shift kits and aftermarket valve body mods + copilot are not a good idea :hello:

My converter locks late unless my co-pilot is in race mode.

I think what happened is someone read/heard something and posted it like it happened to them, and now it has spread to be a well known fact. I will say the truck pulls a lot harder with a locked converter than it does with an unlocked converter.

I think part of the problem is more and more people are getting into running custom tranny tunes thinking they know what the heck they are doing and they are finding out the hard way that they don't. Not saying anyone in this thread, just overall that there are more and more people out there exploring EFI Live trying to fix a poor shifting ECM tune with a TCM tune. Add in a Co-pilot and it is even more sensitive to changes.

sorry to bring this back to the top, but my truck never got along well with the copilot. from stock tuning to professional tuning. it seems much happier without it on there. i never raced the truck so i cant speak to times, but sotp meter it feels better with out. it shifted bad hard with it on.
