Sweet!. Makinos are my favorite mills. Very nice.

We had four new Mori CNC Lathes with Live tooling came in last week. I have been opening boxes and seting up machines for the last four days. I actually got parts off two last night!

John, what is a mid sized high quality lathe that you would recomend I look into? 12- 15" chuck. We need another lathe, but with the pending pres. we're scared to buy to much, we may not have any work for them:eek:

As far as lathes go. My favorites are Mori Seiki and Okuma. We tried a Kia that was supposedly designed by the form Mori designers. POS. Darn near a Haas.

With machine tools as most anything. Spending more up front saves you in the long run.

We have an NL3000/1250Y that I really like. 15" chuck, Y axis , and live tooling.

Depending on what you need it to do the Okuma Captain L470 is a nice machine.

We have several Okuma's, I like them. But, we dont have any CNC mori lathe's.

I will check out that L470.

Thanks.

On a side note, this Yama seiki has turned out to be quite the machine, I really enjoy working with it.

Quick question for you CNC guru's. Can Cat 50 tool holders be used in MT 50 machines? I know the taper is the same, but can anything be done on the clamping grooves to utilize them?

I can not say with out seeing it but there should be a screw in retention knob on top of the cat 50 holder. That might need changed. Different brand of machine use different knobs.

Good deal on the Yama. I really like Mori lathes. The new NL series with the 800 series Mitsubishi control is simply awesome.
