I use my 4x4H daily for a short period of time, approximately 1/8mile.. a couple months ago I would hear a faint clank noise while driving maybe 10mph and pressing 4x4.. it progressively got worse "CLUNK" so now I come to a stop then press into 4wd,(no noise then) today I topped off the fluid 3/4 of a quart to see if that would help, nothing changed..

I cant find anything underneath that appears wrong.. any advice would be appreciated...

thanks

tires are rated 80psi I run them around 65-70 to soften the ride.. front tires seem to run even the rear go bald easily...

Hmmmm...I wonder what causes that....:roflmao:

No, seriously, I could not keep soft compound tires on the back. I thought I had a blown T-case and it was a different OD between the fronts and the rears. It got so bad that I would disengage the t-case and it would not come out of 4wd until I stopped and backed up to release the tension in the system. This happened with some real soft compound snow tires in about 7k miles. Even stock, these trucks will wear the backs if you are not careful.

Use a rag tape and measure the outside of both the front and rear tires. If they are different OD, then rotate the tires a do a few burn offs to get them close. :thumb::thumb:

If it not the tires, then Mike is probably right and you will have to work on the t-case. :(

You could have a fualty emergency brake release sensor, it tells your dash to turn off the brake light. If the sensor goes bad, even tho the cable releases the brake lever, the sensor doesnt tell the calipers on the rear rotors to release, but tell the dash light to go out. This could cause excessive tire wear on your rear tires

LOL. THT WAS ALL BS

They are cable operated and use a on off switch to control the light.
