Clean stock turbo while it's off?

Is it worth pulling the exhaust cover off and cleaning the vanes, or doing anything else while I have the stock turbo off? Not interested in wheel upgrades since I'm going to twin it.

Port/polish it at least while you have it off. IMO No way I wouldn't do something to it while it was off if I was going to keep it. Maybe an upgraded bearing too.

I really don't think upgrades are going to be worth the money for me, more concerned with what I can do or fix to help the turbo last as long as possible. I don't want to have to pull this thing off again to fix anything anytime soon.

Only reason to spend money on oem turbo is too Drop to 10 blade turbine too pick up the whistle. Different people will tell you different results. Only common factor is whistle IMO

Yeah with the future twin setup I don't see any reason to upgrade the stock turbo, just want to clean it up and help it last as long as possible.

I just swapped my stocker back on to do the same thing you are. I gasket matched the up pipe inlets and ported the exhaust housing only took about a hour or so. The turbine housing had alot of meat to port to match the 3in downpipe, i think it was worth it better sound and maybe a little quicker spool.

Isn't that what I said...might as well make the stocker flow a little better for the sake of drive pressure if nothing else. It would make a 480 a little more realistic. Not sure you need to push that little truck that hard though unless your going for low 10s.

Why not put a billet wheel while its out, flow some more air and port and polish it like Dozerboy said. Only makes sense. Maybe a rebuild kit just to keep radial/axial movement at a minimum.
