I'm looking at going to visit a guy with a truck for sale that he thinks has a valve or lifter issue.
He says he hasn't taken it to a mechanic or anything but is just guessing a stuck lifter. He says he doesn't know and doesn't have time, hence his price.
Says it has a loud screech from top of motor that he stopped driving when that started.
What I'm wondering is, if it truly is a dropped valve, assuming it didn't knock the piston apart and sieze it up and it'll turn over, how much more damage would I do starting the truck? I'm hoping it's just a blown apart egr gasket or something with the aftermarket turbo. Or it's not and just a stick lifter. Or worst case is it dropped and wrecked the cyl and block.
Anyways, just looking for any insight before I go check it out. I wouldn't mind a second project, for the right price.
