I know, I know. Not supposed to put anything but the factory spec bulb in the housing because blinding, cutoff and DOT brightness restrictions, etc. but hear me out. I need something to put in my high beams or driving lights if you will. There is much less restrictions issues running a bad cutoff and blinding light in the highs as you shouldn't be running them where there is other nearby anyways. And definitely not in the city with sufficient lighting around

I currently have xenon bulbs but they do poorly in high beams for the rapid on off that can occur as you turn them off to keep from blinding on coming traffic. While they excel in light output, they only last me a year or two and after the first year start having issues relighting after running for a short bit. So I am considering LEDs as a replacement for the high beams.

I've been looking at Amazon for some and as many of you will know, they are all over the place for specs and lumens. Hard to tell what you are actually getting. Some claiming 30k lumens. Haha. No way. That would probably blind the driver and catch vegetation on fire.

I'm hoping to find something with 3k or more actual lumens in the 5000k color temp range. I need some H7 for my Jetta and 9005 for my trucks. The number of options available and with the false specifications it's so hard to find something good. Anyone have any good recommendations on something worth trying? All the reviews and videos that do actual lumen tests are all outdated or products are no longer on Amazon or maybe been renamed.

I spent a lot of money on my low beams, but I am running a good fog light set (relative to cost). Before I did the low beams, I adjusted these a little high to compensate, lol. I’m a year on them now and they are still working 💯

Thanks. Definitely interesting for fogs, but I'm looking for high beam bulbs to fit into the same reflector housings

I'd recommend these for high beams. Are they actually 32000 lumens? Probably not, but they are bright and seem to last decently long. They're also available in H7.

Auxito is another good brand. Both of these brands will run a little more on cost, but the quality is better. They also design the LED chips to be in the same position as a halogen filament, so the light pattern is the same.

I have a pair of Auxbeam 20k Lumen bulbs in the Subi, Auxbeam has a 2yr warranty too. Factory Halogens were terrible.

After I installed them I stood in front of the car to get an idea, they weren't blinding IMO but I get people flashing me anyways. I take it with a grain of salt because I get flashed while in the truck too, it has 55w halogens and I've made sure the new headlight housings were aimed correctly.

Those look pretty good. At least a number of positive reviews and are current. I might just give them a try

Are you stuck on buying cheap stuff? Diode Dynamics has quality pieces but they are $$$
Not really. But the cost has to justify the improvement. Looks like the only real benefit to them is the warranty. If the ones I got don't last, them maybe I'll look into them. In today's prices, I can buy three of these cheaper ones for the price of one of the diode dynamics and still have money left over.

I have no problem being a guinea pig and testing out cheaper alternatives. Even if it turns out more expensive in the long run. As long as I enjoy it and learn something

Nineo does really well in a reflector housing and they’re priced well. I run hikari in projector housings.

Look up bulb facts on YouTube. He did a lot of testing

Got the bulbs installed. Now I need to find some dark back roads to try them on. Initial impressions are good. Nice color. Not as "blue" or cold as I was expecting for a 6000K+ spec. Looks a little brighter then my old aging HID bulbs. But too much street lights and other vehicles around to get a good test tonight

TX of course
I just put some Lasfit LED bulbs in my fogs after modding them to have a cutoff. ( I made a thread on it I think) They've been pretty good. I see tons of guys recommending them on Facebook for the 2020 and up trucks that still have Helogen bulbs. I don't know if they're really that good or if they just have a really good marketing campaign. As to why they seem so popular right now. A little bit more on the expensive side but the quality seems to be worth it.
