LMM have a idle speed of 720 a LBZ has a idle speed of 675 Any one ever change there idle speed for no DPF. I made mine 650... Has anyone ever done this?

Seems that some people feel there is hamonic issue bettween 620-650. Seems like a bit more of my cheap interor is rattling

Just wondering what everyones feelings are...

I run a 600 on my LB7. Only real downside is the engine doesn't cool down as quickly when I'm stopped at a light when towing and have it good and hot. GM's 680 is about the ideal idle speed really. 640 and my BURB sounds like a woofer inside from the harmonics.

I idle at 600 when the engine is at operating temp. When cold (or hot), it bumps the idle up to 700-800 RPM so the cooling system can do its job.

The truck is a lot quieter at low idle, which is nice.

Mine is quieter, but has more of a diesel sound to it at 600 than it does at 680. At 680 it sounds like any other DMAX where it's just quiet, but at 600 it has a low rumble with a slight diesel clatter. it's still quieter at 600, and it doesn't push as hard on the brakes so I leave it there.

Just play with your pilot injection timing and you can dial out the extra clatter. I'd give you my values, but I run large injectors, so it would not be right for you, most likely.

The low rumble will remain. I personally like that part of the low idle.

I've done that already. It's not bad by any means. Saturday when we went to the races my buddy that went with me commented on how quiet it was, and said it sounded almost as quiet as his LMM. Adjusting the valves when I checked my injectors was WELL worth it. Only had 40K miles on it since I did the head gaskets, but 13 of them had loosened up a few thousandths. Of course I can always go back to mu piltless tune and have it sound like a DIESEL!
