Well I decided that I need to change the head gaskets myself. There is no way I can come up with 4grand and I need my truck to go from NC to CA. So I'm going to do It myself and while I'm in there I'm going to seat the injector cups. Any advice pertaining to diesels in particular. I pull alot of gas engines and build them so I have a good understanding of mechanics and I have access to alot of tools. So any advice?

Have your heads pressure tested before machining and again after the cups are reinstalled. Research whether you need to recess the valves too.

You will need to dent the firewall on the DS to gain enough clearance

I always do it in the truck, you'll have to dent the firewall slightly on the driverside to remove valve covers, after u get the allen's out of the valve covers throw them away an use some hex in the install, You'll have to insert the bottom right bolt in the driverside head an zip tie it to the valve spring before u install the head. Good Luck

not so simple then is it? I was hoping for more of a pull heads off deck them and re install all. I got quoted 3900 with arp studs out the door for someone else to do it. problem is im not sure i can afford that. is that a good price?

Born and raised in norcal but stationed in north Carolina (marines). What is a good price? Got pics of said dent in fire wall? Also what do I tell the machine shop to do total?

no I saw that....Paint posted "you need to dent the firewall" before the guy said anything about studs.

Then after Paint posted that, he mentioned installing studs. Because paint said "dent the firewall" before the guy mentioned "im installing studs", I interperated that as paint saying "even without installing ARP studs you have to dent the firewall"....thus my response. :)
