Sheared the shaft off my new (welded) water pump (gear side) on my way to Jefferson State Diesel drags in Redding a couple weeks ago. Overheated a couple times while we were testing and trying to repair, couldn't believe that the water pump had failed, so tried everything else, since it wasn't making any noise. It later became evident and made enough noise to be heard. trailered truck home and replaced with another new modded unit. Went to start and after 3 seconds of cranking nothing, tried a few times, same. Threw p0335 codes for Crankshaft Position Sensor. Sure enough sensor body is broken and tab with bolt isn't holding sensor in. Had another in an extra engine, and plugged it in and spun fan back on and cranked then fired and immediately died. Same over and over. Of course p0335 is gone and the engine rolls over at least but still wont start. Kinda burned out on working on this today. Any suggestions?
Damaged anything while engine was in overheat mode? Didnt drive it any extended time or distance, only long enough to warm up and then go into overheat testing new thermostats, etc., and then easy on it for the few miles back I had to travel to park it to work on it. Temp would back off with no load on the motor or at idle.

Side note I got 2 glow plug codes that I have gotten several times recently, #1 & #6, but that wouldn't keep it from starting. So looks like a need to replace those soon, but can't imagine that those are really contributing to the problem.

Ya see if your reluctor wheel has come loose and also as far as the cam and crank sensors go, they are interchangeable, as far as they will mount in either hole. They plug in but dont work the same they cause they cause the start and die condition you are experiencing. Been there had my ass kicked too. The part numbers on the sensors help find out which one is which. good luck.
