Caution w/ using DVT on the 6 speeds

I decided today that I would play with the DVT on my 6 speed, I attempted to reset the taps and now my truck is crippled. All I get is the light blinking and shift range inhibited truck does absolutly nothing. Several others have had the same problem. So I would say it does NOT have all the bugs worked out of it, use with caution. I think my TCM is toast:mad:...

Are you able to read or write the tcm or is caput totaly. i take it relfashing the ecm didnt work ether.

Ive reflashed everything, it reads the tcm and ecm just fine. Ill try unplugging the batteries and see if that works.

Thats strange if it reads and writes both the tcm and ecm. I dont think the tcm is fried thoe if it will do both. Have you tired downloading the tune thts in it right now. to confirm tht its taking a tune ? is the problem still tht it wont go into gear. but the engine will start corrrect ?

You mean Downloading the tune from the truck to my computer, or just reflashing it? The engine starts and runs fine, it just wont do anything when I put it in gear.

I dont know what to try next this sucks! Thanks for the responses I havnt heard anything from the EFI people

yea try downloading your tcm tune from the tcm in the truck. and then if you can down load it open it up and see if any thing looks screwy. then reload with a know working trans tune. if you download the tune and it looks ok and you are able to flash a new known working tcm tune in. I dont think its the efi it just may of been cowincadence?

Well it decided to move again. I unhooked the batteries disconnected everything for about 3 hours, then downloaded ecm and tcm and reloaded stock tunes back in. Put it in reverse nothing at first then BAM in jumped in gear. It shifts very hard right now but that is prolly due to resetting the taps, I actually like when it shifts like this wish it would stay.

Glad you got up and running. Ross has been out of the office for the last day and will be for the next 36 hours, which is why you haven't yet had a response.

Can you please provide the exact sequence of events (ie which taps you reset in which order - or did you reset them collectively and if you used any of the other DVT's), and this becomes priority number 1 for Monday.

I connected my truck to the scan tool from there I clicked the DVT tab and hit active, I then selected the top 3 taps buttons and hit clear on all of them.

I then unhooked efi from my truck and I had nothing just blinked at me and said shift range inhibited. I didnt use any other functions besides the taps reset.

Ive tried to duplicate what happened, now it seems to work fine when I select and clear the taps. Hope that helps.
