Today I picked up a core LB7 from a guy that had bought it from someone else as a running engine in the truck before being pulled and then sold it , but the second buyer found metal in the intake runners and got the engine replaced from the guy who I bought it from. I had been hoping for a cracked piston and a salvageable block, but I got the head off and found this. It had dropped two valves and bent all the exhaust push rods and eaten all 4 exhaust valve bridges, eaten and entire number 5 piston. I just don't know how someone can say it was running when pulled.

Well technically the motor still could have been running when pulled. It would have just been making some terrible noises like a midget inside the oil pan smashing shit with a hammer.

More than likely multiple midgets with hammers

Probably was running, people use that word very loosely now a days. My definition of running is, possibly not perfect but easily repairable.

Ive bought 15+ LB7's from Craigslist here in AZ. Everyone one one of them told me "it smoked a little bit" or "ran ok when pulled"

about 80% of them were F'kd. bent rods, holes in pistons, melted piston, broken cranks, spun cam bearings, block headgaskets etc. It's a surprise when I take the heads off that's for sure.

Yep, I will be used it as a jig for mocking up stuff, but i was hoping for a salvageable block, but not with a hole in it. I am hoping the crank will be in good shape atlest, but i will find out tomorrow. Here is a picture of the head.....
