I heard those rotary engines can fly but I don think that is what they meant.:)

No doubt you need a good cage after seeing that!

Mazda RX7 at Bonneville:

Basically, when rear wheel torque exceeds the traction and wind resistance, the tires start to slowly spin, then the rear swings like a pendulum. When it gets too far into the airstream, it spins, then if there is not enough weight down low, it flips.

Are you gettin scared? :D Why are you watchin vids of guys crashin at high rates of speed? :p

count me in....I'll crash whatever you want me to lol.

That thing was wound up, then something musta stuck cause you hear it bouncing off the rev limiter for a bit.

knock on wood

We are outfitting Casper with more than the required amount of safety equipment for the speeds we are targetting. Full 8-pt cage with rocker bars, Stroud Parachute system (the best), fixed door bars, cross bars, SFI-20 (40 seconds) full 1 piece funny car suit, TWO separate fire systems (Halon and ColdFire), sealed cab, 3 engine kill methods, window net, arm restraints, legs restrained, helmet restraint, etc.

But safety really comes down to the truck, crew, and driver. Safety "equipment" is only used after you fk up. Having a stable and good handling truck, and an experienced driver, goes along way to reducing the risk.

wait, a rotary made too much torque?

Is that even possible?

Actually, a rotary is capable of huge torque since it's a brother to the two stroke engine. It's just that normally you don't tune them for torque. The highest torque engines are 2 strokes (Detroit Diesels, ship engines).

But it flipped due to poor aerodynamics.
