I am looking to buy a used, low miles LBZ to drop into my truck. My brother came across this one sitting in a shop, and the guy claimed it was pulled from a 2006 (but didn't know more than that).

After looking at it, it appears to be a LLY (looks like there is a FICM on there), but the part # on the ECU (15292913) appears to be for a LBZ. So if anyone knows which one this is (or if it is mismatched combination), or even has theories, post them up!

Also, if there is any surefire way to know which it is (without the VIN, which is long gone), let me know. I can have my brother go back and get more photos, once I know what to get photos of.

LLY engine. It looked like an LBZ ECM to me at first where the FICM is supposed to be, but I double checked and the LLY FICM has the little baro sensor in it like an LBZ ECM has. The ECM on the floor is also an LLY as it says DELPHI on it, and LBZ+ is a BOSCH unit. Would still make a good easy swap for an 03-04 LB7 though.

Without a doubt a LLY. To find out the vin, there's a flat spot on the rear adapter plate that has the last 8 of the vin.

Thanks for the info guys. Guess my gut was right. The LLY is a good engine, but I have my heart set on a LBZ with its 6-speed tranny. Guess I'll keep looking a bit longer.
