Just wondering if an injector nozzle can be bad? I have a set of 45%s in my truck now. I had 2 injectors that were returning pretty bad. i had some extra injectors here (only had 10k on them out of another truck...So i pull the 2 out that were returning (i was getting a hard start) and replace them with ones i have here. I was super careful about dirt/rust getting into the tops of the injectors. I swapped nozzles, put it back together and now the 2 I replaced arent returning but have almost stuck balance rates they stay right at 6.9 . I work at the GM dealer and can get a new set for $1500 but, should I be ok swapping all those nozzles onto the new injectors? I am just asking because im not sure if something might be wrong with those 2 nozzles maybe if a small piece of dirt did get inside the injector and go through it?

Is there a way to see if a nozzle is ok? I know you can stick a brake cleen straw thru the nozzle with the needle out and make sure it is spray out of all the holes and make sure the needle is free and not stuck. If they spray out of all holes, is it safe to say the nozzles ok? just trying to salvage the 45%s i have now.

PS-yes i know exergy is a better option but if for some reason the nozzles might be bad, they are going in with stock nozzles and thats the end of it:thumb:

I may be completely off on this as I've never had injectors apart. I believe the injector body is what returns the excessive fuel, where as the nozzle affects spray pattern/closing/fuel flow which could be the direct result of your high balance rates.

I had an injector returning drastic amounts of fuel but I had DDP 50hp nozzles. Changed the injector and reinstalled the DDP nozzle and things were golden.

Before my engine blew I installed new injectors, while swapping in the old DDP nozzles. The truck smoked bad and one cylinder was way out on balancing rates. I would go either new injectors or at least new nozzles.
