Just talked to Calvert Racing on Friday and ordered some. They said 3410 for a non-lifted truck, 3414 for a lifted truck.

Not sure who as it's been some weeks now but a reputable few stated that the bar can't take the extended stress of pulling compared to drags.

I could understand that. Most guys build pulling bars from much larger bar stock.

I found that my Caltracs (standard HD set, forgot the part number) are a bit too long if you remove your overload spring. I barely have 1/4" adjustment on both sides.

you guys think the bars are the week link?
I wonder if I could build a long bar , add a mount to frame and swap out bars depending on what im doing ( drag racing or pulling )

Do you want to sell the bars tom? i know if you talk to calvert racing, they can make them shorter or longer upon request, thats if you still want to remove the overload leaf on your truck. let me know, i can order them shorter and then trade them out for yours

You could use the caltracs for racing then just remove the caltrac bar and just put your long bar on for sled pulling why wouldnt this work

thats my thoughts too . just not sure if the rear bracket is too small and maybe the hiem joint on that end would be too small

ive pulled on caltracs for the last 3yrs with no problems.

If you havent had an issue maybe I wont have to worry about it

I dont see why it would be to small hell ill be a guinea pig and try it out I fell confident it would strong enough and big enough

Thats a pretty cool idea. If you ran the same size Heim as the caltrac, it would work perfectly.

Vaz, I never even thought about it. I do like having the overload off the truck. Rides really nice. Might take you up on that come spring.

Just posting my observations here but I watched a guy pull with cal-tracs and they seemed to do alright until he got hoppin a bit and twisted the driveshaft up like a pretzel. I think they work well unless you start getting some extreme stress on them.

Again from my observations, I would feel more comfortable pulling with traction bars. I think that maybe traction bars along with spring clamps are a good track set up as well.
