CalTracs on a daily driver?

I liked the feel of the spring clamps but don't like what they appear to be doing to the springs. Looks to like they are bending (reshaping) them.
Anyone that runs Traction bars on a daily driver. What are the down sides? I know what the positives are. Just looking for "the rest of the story"

I have the Cognitos, I leave them on all the time, dont really notice it. I bet if I were to pull them off I'd notice better ride but I've adjusted, its a truck.

I may just put the clamps back on. I had no problems with the ride and If I f'up the springs they don't cost that much more than a good set of bars.

Thanks

it takes ALOT of force to reshape springs..

i have had mine clamped sololy in the front for the better part of 20,000 miles and will probly remain like that when the truck is back up and running

I would just put the clamps on at the track for racing only. I hated the ride with the springs clamped. The easiest thing to do is carry a good C clamp with you and the wrenches needed to put the spring clamps on. I could do it in about 15 minutes.

I've seen very good results with just front and back spring clamps as tight as you can get them. I can't imagine caltracs would improve the launch much better.

I had the fronts clamped and the ride was still good. Back end of the truck felt nice and tight. With out the clamps it's real sloppy.

I run mine all the time, I used 3/4" heims in the rear and bushings on the fronts. No noise, and not to stiff and like Mike said, its a truck. But you can pull them off in about 5 minutes so either way they arent bad to have.

true dat. clamped mine for a couple passes at the track (thanks chad) .... made a helluva difference. normally, wheelhop is bad under hard acceleration without them. clamps on, plants both tires hard and square, makes the burnout (inevitable in 2wd) not chatter your teeth out.... :D

bet it brakes/stops better too

it most definately does.... abs doesnt cycle as often when stoppin heavy loads on the skinny 245's...
part of that may be due to bad shocks. replacing those will aslo help keep the tires planted better..... i hope.
