Steve Ford got me thinking just how much my truck weighed last year. So I dug out my May '08 weight slip from Flying J and started rough calculating....

Weight slip read 6980lbs. Thats with me in the truck (185lbs)

That was with the following items removed. I had listed these on the weight slip. (est weight):
Step Bars (70lbs)
Trailer Hitch (Reese Towbeast) (60lbs)
2nd Battery (40lbs)
Tonneau cover (30lbs)
Spare tire winch (20lbs)

Things still to remove at track:
Spare tire sitting in the bed (72lbs)
Tail Gate (50lbs)
Back seat (150lbs)

Weight differences:
Hankook 285 tires (86lbs ea) to Michelin 265 tires (56lbs) x 4 = 120lbs difference
24gal of fuel (7.15 lbs per gallon = 172 lbs) to 13gal fuel (93lbs) = 79lbs difference

So, 6980 - 72 - 50 - 150 = 6708

6708 - 120 - 79 = 6509

Granted, much of this is rough figuring, but its close. I was right when I figured 6500 lbs, Steve.
If I take out the pass seat, swap out the rear bumper for a rollpan, and I could lose another 150 lbs. But, I also have to figure 50lbs back in for Driveshaft loops and pinion snubber or traction bars. So I could theoretically get my CC down to 6400lbs or better. Thanks for getting me off my duff to figure that out. Been meaning to since October.

6500 with or without?
Thats pretty much any free weight to be removed without getting ridiculous.

Maybe when I get the most I can out of mine I'll do some weight reduction to see how fast it will go. I didn't think these crew cabs would get that light.

front bumper only weighs 20 lbs...that's a chrome one with foglights off a 04 GMC.....you could save a hundred lbs just using a 4-link rear suspension you could probably save another 30 lbs with a nice aluminum driveshaft, 30 lbs with a suncoast hood...pretty much anything else is gonna cost some cashola

I meant with or without you.

could remove the front bumper, use a cover & make up some lighter mounts

with me in truck.

I think 6400 lbs will be about the lowest I can go. In the spring, I'll get the truck weighed after I prep it completely. Flying J is only a couple miles from my house.

Hey..its all free HP.
