My rockers, cab corners, and inner door edges are starting to look sad. I've been thinking of just doing a cab swap rather than having the bodywork done. How much BS is invoved when it comes to vin #?

considering all the other rust (bed & flaking on frame) I think it may be time to consider other options.
A, Just sell it as is and pack it in.
B, Look for a clean 01-02 with bad/no motor.
C, Stuff my drivetrain in something like a Suburban. I have access to a pretty clean '98 K2500 that had a 454.
Not sure what to do, but I think it would cost to much to re-do what I have.

I take it you dont care for the 03 and newer body styles?

I always liked the 96 to 99 body style and interiors but i think thats alot to bite off atleast for me.Could search the sourthern states for a very clean 01 02.I have a friend in OK and he has a 76 chevy with absolutly no rust and he drives it ever day rain or shine. My frame strated flaking a little i wire brushed it and coated with some really good sealer/undercoating it goes on like paint and dries extreemly hard it was top notch stuff.I cant remember the name rite this minute butit was a little pricey at 113 for a gallon but well worth it after the fact.

drive it till the wheels fall off buy a southern 01-02 and dont drive it in the winter. I hate salt, i'd rather have more accidents/people learn how to drive and sand the roads vs rotting vehicles. My LMM wont ever see a salty road.

Salt is the absolute dreaded. My truck will not see the road this winter either, they switched to an even worse liquid salt around here that I feel like takes 2-3 years off a vehicles life each winter.

Anyways, I would do what Z79Outlaw said and try to by the same vehicle. WIll be a lot easier when swapping parts around etc, plus you could still keep the current one for a winter driver.

anyone know how big of a job the wiring is? There's no chance the 3/4 ton suspension would bolt into a 1/2 ton is there?

Thanks, sent him a pm.
Around here the p/u's (gas or diesel) are holding huge price tags. yet the same year Tahoe, burban, and even a Denali can be picked up dirt cheap.
