After completely trashing my PI converter drag racing at Scheid this year and having it replaced under warranty with a higher stall and race stator converter I drove on the street for a couple days before I had issues... C1 were welded and stuck tighter then crap and C2's burnt.... my question is in the C2 drum where the steels ride is beat to hell... is this normal or should it be replaced? it was a PPE stage 4 kit in it...any suggestions on what else i should put in my trans besides shafts? Im going to put new clutches and steels all the way through but not sure on what ones I should go with yet? I plan on installing mike L's line press spring along with everything already in it from PPE... is there anything else you guys suggest I should modify or install while its out again?

C1s warped and ate most the friction material off on one side and were welded tight took pry bars to get them out

The picture is not that clear but it doesn't look good. I would replace the drum and use OEM steels in the C2 because they are softer metal and will not gouge the drum. The drum is made out of very soft steel to save on tooling. Hard steel material will cut the drum like a hot knife in butter.

Thanks mike! will the Stock steels hold up to the abuse of drag racing and such?

With the ppe kit already installed from before it has the shim they sent for the main press.... does your spring up the pressure more or should I just leave it as it is?

It would be nice if someone had a c2 steel with every other tooth missing, that way we could index them and get 2 builds on a drum

any thoughts on this?

Well mike l I suppose if you do it right the first time they will never come apart again for 95% of them.

I was kinda thinking in the 900 to 1000 rwhp range where you gotta freshen up friction every now and then.
