Cali..
I ran across a very thorough DIY how to thread and he bypassed the Bose Amp when installing the Double din DVD player..

Basically my question is:

Why would he bypass it?
What are the advantages/disadvantages to bypassing he amp?
Will my double din have enough power to not need the amp?

I'd like to post the link because I wanted to know if he had the right harness' that would work for me but I dnt wanna piss anybody off cuz it's from a different forum.. Anyway thanks for your advice!

Yes, your DD radio will have enough power. Pioneer uses pretty clean amplifiers in their headunits. Bypassing the Bose amp will get you a cleaner signal to the speakers. Anytime you amplify a signal, you introduce noise into the signal. Running the Pioneer into the Bose amp will amplify an already amplified signal which means amplifying the noise too.

There are some modules that plug into the RCA jacks on the back of the radio instead of the high voltage speaker leads, but I have found that the volume is generally less than just bypassing the amp unless the radio has 4v preouts. Your AVH-X8500 does have 4v preouts by the way, but I would still bypass the Bose.

You should check out the dashcommand app for use with the advanced app mode on your radio. It is nice for modified vehicles.
