Buying salvage

I have a friend who wrecked his 2002 ec/sb dmax alli. The truck was totaled but doesn't appear to have too much damage. It still runs, and other than the drivers front corner being moved back a few inches it will move under it's own power.
What should I expect to pay? I'm looking to put the motor in my 00 , and sell off the rest, what if anything has value as parts? I'm hoping to score it cheap, but I don't know what to expect.
Good news is he was planning on buying it back but had no clue what he was going to do with it. If the numbers right he will give it to me for whatever he gets it for.

With these trucks it seams almost nothing gets wasted,i would say 4500 to 5000 like tom said.Depending on how much damage you could wind up getting the motor paid for or atleast heavily off set with selling the parts,good luck:thumb:

I bought my totalled 05 ec/sb with 168k on it back for $4400 last month actually

Got mine totaled an 02 ccsb with all parts to fix for 8k only had 100k on it, only paid 4500 for the truck though the rest was ib parts labor etc

Cool I'll keep you posted. The numbers the insurance is talking about is much lower. If everything pans out it sounds like I'd be stupid not to buy it.

I would expect a buy back on something that old to be more along the lines of $2500 to $3000

like said before u can sell almost everything from that truck. so if u were to pay 5000 for it, thats not a bad deal. my friend does all late model GM salvage. ill ask him what that truck would normally go for


now i noticed in ur sig u have quite a few dump trucks, what do u do hahaha, also, talking about ur 02 dually, what does the D/A mean?

Well last week I did embroidery and made some vinyl signs, drilled some holes for perk testing, and fixed a few cars. Next week I have to install surveillance cameras in a house and dig some trenches. It's best summed up what I don't do.

Well our primary business was always excavating and trucking. Lately it doesn't cut it just doing one thing. If this dmax swap goes well I have 2 more people wanting one.

sucks ur on the other side of the state. my excavating guy is prob moving to North Carolina. and need another guy.

I get to look at the truck tomorrow. I was told two days ago it shut off in the crash and doesn't start. It was totaled because every body panel is bent from previous accidents. What should I look for. I'm thinking I should buy it one way or another. It had new injectors at 110,000 and has 140,000 now. Anyone need any 2002 parts? Except the ones I need for my swap.
