Ok so my girlfriend is buying a 04 lb7 that came from Cali unfortunately. But just want some insight on what to look for. So the truck has 240k on it,bone stock it's whole life, no dents or rust at all, frame looks brand new too. Drove it and got it nice and hot, got into it and what not. No hard hoses, no unusual smells. Injector rates are very from +\-1-2.0. They were replaced at 100k, will need a Fpr as it has a variance of rail pressure at idle(slight surge). No biggy. But plans for the truck are probably a lift pump for the added filtration, straightpipe, modded stock box, profab intake horn, boostvalve, egr delete or blocker plate, some exterior mods and maybe some conservative tuning. Getting the truck for a decent deal 10k. What do you guys think? Engine looks clean, body and interior are excellent. I'll be posting pics when it comes home tomorow! New addition to the Fam!

I just had the common problems after 174k like injecters and a weepy headgasket which I drove on for 40k with shine but I didn't drive like a nut. The guy that bought it couldn't resist the power of the moonshine it was pissing pretty bad after a couple weeks.

Id be very leary of injectors that have 140k on them and say the balance rates are that good.

I wouldnt do it. 10k isnt a good deal for that many miles, and you KNOW you are going to have to do injectors real soon. I would rather buy one for less with known bad injectors.

I understand I'll be doing injectors sooner then later. It's a 1 owner truck, guy is over the age 65 aswell which is a good thought. But other than injectors. Is there a downfall buying a truck with this many miles? It's such a clean truck!

Id look for a high mileage LBZ.. They can be had for that kind of cash. The saying "you buy your mileage" is true. Mo mileage mo problems.

Owned by an old guy can be good and bad. He was probably easy on it, but sometimes they miss some maintenance items.

I got my 03 LB7 with 200k on it, but injectors were done 2 months prior (at dealer, with paperwork). Since those injectors will be going out soon, I'd try to talk him down at least $1k.

Otherwise, the LB7s last a long time, especially stock. I've got 290k on mine now, no problems besides injectors going after 85k. Put 60% overs in and an S371, and the truck is happy again!

However, if you can get a LBZ for the same price, it might be a better choice. But LB7s are not as bad to own as some say.

Ok, so the truck was only $7,400 that she paid! Didn't realize it was that cheap. So hopefully for the money she will have a nice truck to continue to put miles on :gearjammin:
