Help: Buy used duramax

Looking to buy 3500 duramax looked at 3 trucks please give me your thoughts.

2012 chevy 3500 LT dually 172,000 miles dealer serviced has all records. Very clean well maintained truck has new injectors $24500

2013 GMC Denali 3500 dually 142,000 miles clean one owner no service records $32500

2010 Chevy 3500 LTZ single wheel 91,000 miles clean one owner no service records $29,000

When do injectors need replaced?
I will be pulling RV's
I like the options of the Denali but I can live with lower cost truck.
LMM vs LML?
A little better MPG & maintenance cost with single wheel over dually I think?

Why did the 12 get new injectors at 170k? I would go with the 10 unless you plan on doing a cp3 swap on the LML. Some people make it hundreds of thousands on a cp4 and some make it tens of thousands. Not a gamble I'd be willing to take.

Agreed. If body's are good and comparable on all 3 I would definitely choose the 10 over the newer ones.

To answer your questions about injectors, LMM's that tow heavy constantly will need injectors around 125,000 miles. Otherwise they are normally good to 200K pretty easily. Sometimes much more.

The LML on the other hand can decide to shit it's own injection pump out through the injectors anytime it feels like it and there will be no warning. Just one day your stranded. Now if you spend the money to fully delete and convert to a CP3 pump then I would go with the 2013 hands down.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I talked with a tuner company today and the guy on the phone said 2012 and up are superior to the 2010 duramax. Better HP, better trans etc. and since the 2012 has new injectors he would go with it bing the 2010 would need them in 25000 mile.

AZlml the dealer told me it had one bad injector and the owner said just do them all, then diesel tech was on vacation for two weeks and didn't finish job before he left so owner bought new dually because he needed to haul for FIMA to Florida after storms and couldn't wait. There story not mine.

The 2011+ chassis is far superior to the older trucks specifically for towing. The braking system is much stronger as well. I wouldn't even consider the 2010 for this reason.

The only downside to the newer trucks(besides the cp4 issue) is the factory exhaust brake is not as good as the 2010 & older. The 2010 & older trucks do need a tune for an exhaust brake to function, though.

My 05 lly duramax Allison has 225 thousand miles original injectors. Mpg Towing 11/12
City 18 hwy 20/21 mpg.
I'd opt for the truck with records as I do all my maintenance.
I have two packages of receipts.
The dealer can put the truck on the computer to make sure that the engine and transmission are updated and no codes. ( Updated meaning, available software)
