Aside from having the land and being able to actually construct it, What would be involved in making it legal and good??? It doesnt have to be able to hold NHRA sanctioned events or anything like that just be legal to run on.

The town that Im from has lots of gear heads but nowhere to actually play. There have been illegal drags outside of town since before my parents young ages. There has been talk of a drag strip in the past but nothing serious but Im pretty serious about it if its feasible. I think it could work because there just isnt much in this whole area. Mission raceway is the only one but its pretty damn far away for the average joe to go run his car/truck.

About seven hundred thousand to do it right. If you can do a lot of the work. Expect about twice that much if you have to hire most of the work out.

What if there was the opportunity to start with an air strip???

Also it wouldnt be a serious strip....just one that vehicles can legally race on instead of back roads.

My best friends father inlaw is on city council so next time Im there I will talk to him about it and then go talk to the one and only performance shop in the town.

All I really want is a place for regular street vehicles to legally line up for shits and giggles. I wish laws didnt make things so tough.

Insurance on dragstrips are mostly done on a race by race schedule. You only pay for the weekends that it will be in use. So that cuts the cost down a bit. Starting out on an airstrip would help considerably. Your still talking at least 100,000 or so. Timing system it self can be 20,000 and up.

Im gonna have to talk to authorities about the possibility of this and then to some local businesses about it. Maybe the city would let some kind of trial operation to happen just to see if there is enough interest to make it worth while. No lights, no timing system, just plain old fashioned heads up street style drag racing in a safe and legal place.

Why don't you talk to Western Speedway and get them on board?

I would talk to them but Im not talking about Victoria. The town Im from is Powell River...A little po dunk town up the coast from Van. Part of the problem there is that it is an isolated area so hot rodders may not want to travel there but you never know people do like scenic trips. The only strip I know of in the area is in Port Alberni and I never hear much about it and its still a ferry ride and 200+kms each way.

I just really want to get involved in motorsports but Im not enough of a baller to just travel the US going to events.
