Well Thursday I hauled the block, crank, rods, pistons, to the machine shop in Portland Oregon. and Yes that is the block and parts in the trunk of my 2012 Jetta TDI lol. drove funny for the 200 miles down there. but damn sure cheaper then driving my duramax and we were going to the coast. so its has a stage 2 colt cam, 16:1 fingers oval chambers, carillo rods, and a set of LBZ highly ported head which I will put on when it gets back with socal springs and titanium retainers. I will post pictures as I progress.

Surprisingly it wasn't too bad. I will for sure post a pic when I haul her home. still got 45 mpg down the freeway to Portland.

How much is it going to run you for the machine work? Do the pistons need valve reliefs cut in?

The ones that I got do have reliefs but the cam I am using doesnt require reliefs cut in. should be around 1800.00 but ill let you know when im done what it actually costs.

I've always used billet main caps, good insurance IMO, but not required... They fit much tighter and I find it hard to believe it won't help some.?.?

The machine shop called and the motor wil be ready in a couple days, looks like the bill came to 2350$ for everything, including rod and main bearings, balancing, boring .020 over, line hone, decking the block (he said it was a few thou out), all the cleaning, and I think thats it. the colt cam that I had was jacked up and came out funny when they went to degree it at 5 deg retarded. I had them put it on hold and shipped a 6480 Socal AF cam and that one came out to 5.5 deg advanced. I trust guy more then colt cams. (anyone want a colt cam? haha)

what was the shop you wen through to get the work done? Did they assemble the short block or bolt the complete heads on too?

Portland Engine Rebuilders. in portland. I have the heads and they assembled the shortblock for that price. this motor will be for sale for awhile if someone wants it. PM me.
