Well I went to a sled pull few weeks ago and ended up breaking my old rear drive shaft, limped home in 4wd. Fluid leaked out and ran dry. The truck just felt like it "let go". RMP's went crazy and speedometer fell to 0, coasted to a stop. ABS light came on and brake light. Replaced drive shaft, new fluid and drove fine. Lights turned off. No abnormal clunks, noises etc... With that said I got stuck in the sand this afternoon and my 4wd is not working. You can hear 4hi and 4lo engage but the front tires do not turn. The front drive shaft tries to rotate at first but does not move. Any idea what is exactly wrong with the t-case? Could it be a broken chain or the electric motor? I've looked up buying a whole used t-case and they are $900!!!!!!:mad::mad:

Sounds like you ran it dry and fried the nylons that go over the shift fork and it now can't fully engage the slider that runs the front shaft.

You can rebuild one relatively cheap. No major problem and it can be done for less than $300.00.

Wrong if there is hard part damage. I pay 165.00 for a bearing and gasket kit. Bearings and gaskets will not cause his problem.
