I'm not sure if this is the right area so please move this thread if necessary.

I have just bought my first diesel truck..2016 Silverado 3500 LTZ. I am not sure on b;break-in or towing. Is there a specific break-in period? Any techniques I need to know? Also how long does everyone recommend I postpone towing. The dealer was a little vague, but he did state 500 miles before towing a heavy trailer. Any help is appreciated.

Drive easy for 500 miles to break in the rear end. The motor is already broken in on a dynometer at the factory.

With that being said, I wouldn't really worry about "breaking it in".

Thanks guys. I agree with the break-in for the rear dif. Had that replaced before on a different truck, obviously. As I said this is my first diesel so the suggestions are appreciated.

After the 500 mile break in for the differential I would replace the fluid at about a 1000 miles, maybe just a waste of money but on the new vehicles I have bought over the years I also changed the transmission fluid at 15-20,000 miles...
