I used to drool over those, well that an the Impala SS'es. At the time, WAY out of my standard of living. One of our "gang" had one of them, he bought it Texas, then moved to California without telling the finance company. In it's day, it was perhaps Top Dog of the domestics.

But when the LS1 Camaro came out, America got back in the HP wars. 312rwhp right off the showroom floor on 3 dyno's. A few minor tweaks, and 342rwhp. Looked stock, ran mid 12's and got 25mpg highway.

Those were at least $10,000 more than a Grand National back in 87. That was quite a chunk of cash back then. Still super cool.

I was just reading about that car a few weeks ago on detnews.com , Buddy has one just parked in the garage I would like to get ran mid 10's has low oil pressure right now and he has not wanted to work on it has some work done to it. I was thinking of trading my bowtie blower 400 sbc and J&W ultra glide for the car since he's only playing with that stuff anymore.

theres a big GN collector here in my town. its been a few years ago like 00,01 or so but he had 1 brand new gnx, and 1 brand new GN and both had less than 30 miles on them. they still had covering on carpet and covers on seat covers for shipping. if i remember right even had the plastic chinese finger trap over the turn signal wand and of course the window stickers hadnt been removed. they were both perfect in every way just like this one. its great to see a survivior.

I would argue that the LT1 and LT5 put GM back on the board, as they stepped away from the crossfire engines.

I love those old GNX we have a couple local ones here all original but they don't come out and play often
