Anyone know how the brake light switch actually works 2006 . Its hooked on the bolt through the brake pedal, I do not see where anything pushes like a switch would to activate the lights,. It doesnt move on the stud , it just moves with it.
I have wondered this for some time. I have a 2003, and it is the same setup.
As an electrical engineer, I think it is safe to say: black magic :baby:
That makes sense. I've never taken mine off to look at it. It is in an awkward spot, and worked fine, so I didn't think it was worth the effort to remove just for curiosity. It has a small square acuator in the switch where it touches the rod on the square end. When it's pressed it rotates a small amount and releases the switch.
Take one off and look at it. It's pretty simple really

Thanks for letting me know how it works!
Well I dug right into it and found that the Hydroboost push rod is loose on the pin and switch is tight so when you step on pedal it pushes the switch, this one actually has three switches in it, brake light, cruise and i believe the Traction control. Two closed and One open. Thanks for the help .
Some Fuel and Battery and we are about to run.
Thanks Ben, Yes I got some what of a Wire diagram and it says the other is for TCC.
No traction? You just blew my theory of what the extra plug is for under the dash right near the cargo haul button and radio? Have to think on this one again.
