Hi all, I was wondering if you could help me with this. I was looking at the Borg-Warner EFR turbos on Diesel power products and was wondering if anyone has bought one of these and if so, if anyone knows if they're an internal or external waste gate setup. Sorry if it's a stupid question, thanks in advance for information. If there's a more appropriate place on this forum, please move this thread there, first time posting on here.

OK, well that sux about them. What turbos would you recomend? I'm going twins for sure with the Banks Big Hoss intake for simpler intake plumbing as composed to the stock system with twins.

What's your power goals, stock bottom end? Will a big hoss manifold even work with a charger in the valley?

I've seen several people who have tried and they haven't held up well.
Adam most turbo failures come from wrong usage/application issues. If you put a smaller light weight wheel turbo on your diesel truck they tend not to last because guys over drive the charger. They just push them so hard trying to accomplish a unrealistic number. Then they say "look at me, I'm making 800 hp on a 64 to 66 mm charger". In the right application I'm sure they will work just fine. You need to know their limits and stick to the limits.

I completely agree with you. From what I've seen the EFR's are the wrong turbo for our trucks. Nobody's going to spend $2500 on just the turbo so they can hit 500-600hp. As I said above, they're fantastic on gas engines.

I believe the service temp on the TiAl turbine wheel is around 1500F. Much exposure above that and it's toast.

And they can't make them larger than the current size range and have any durability....so there yo go, too hot and too fast is almost a certainty.

So how is the Cheetah turbos form Fleece? Also I'm not gonna be sitting the turbo in the valley, I'm gonna find a way to have them more or less flush with the front accessory drive hopefully
