So i was bored at work today, and staring at one of our tractors i started to think....How would someone set the tuning up if they were going to run a duramax engine in an agricultural tractor. IE, set up the throttle to hold RPM based on load, instead of just a basic throttle input. Make the tuning act more like an Ag injection pump so to speak. Wonder if a guy could do this by simply re-doing the TBIQ table. This could possibly be usefull for those fellas pulling with a ZF6 perhaps?

Too bad they used a mechanical pump. Still badass, though.

As for making the engine behave like it was governed, something crazy like the attached might work. Of course, you'd probably want to make the throttle percentages match up to your normal RPM range, so you would have better control.

So yes, I think just rejiggering the TBIQ could do it. You might see a lot of lope at higher RPMs without a significant load on the engine, though. But a little more tweaking could probably kill that off too.

Yeah, I have seen that Mechanical IP duramax tractor before, pretty sweet!

I was thinking more along the lines of what dave posted though. I bet it would take alot of screwing around to get the thing to opperate smoothly, but it could make truck pulling with a manual trans easier. I might try it just for something to do...LOL!

I bet an Allison would shift like garbage with that table, but it looks like it might work as intended.

LOL! I'm sure it would, but I wonder about the ZF6 pullers having this table on a DSP tune. Any of you fellas that pull with a ZF6 think that it would even be worth the hastle? I've never pulled with a many tranny so I wouldn't know, I only know that a few guys I've talked to have said that they wish they had an ag pump on their 12 valve. Maybe its for a totally different reason, I dunno. Wonder how this engine would work in our 8630 tractor though...it needs a new engine.
