I did a boost test found two leaks fixed them. Still wont boost over 15lbs. Checked waste gate it seems to be closing all the way. Haven't checked axial play yet but the turbo doesnt have 800 miles on it even. Any Ideas? It barked once before the lift pump went out but ran fine until pump went out. Cant figure it out. :banghead:

Yes those are the bellows. You would see them leaking.

Stock turbo or not? Sorry Tapatalk doesn't show anything.

Intake pressure test holds now?

Its a port and polished ihi I built this past winter with a wetzel wheel. Everything was dont the way it was supposed to be. I even had the internals balanced. Its been a great turbo and haven't had any issues until now. I havent had any time this evening to look much. I made the tool to do the leak test. Hooked air up through the intake horn and found a leak at the outlet of turbo hot ic rubber. Fixed that leak. (Small) Also had another leak cold side intercooler to ic pipe rubber (even smaller) fixed it. Tested it a few more time and didnt find any more leaks. I unhooked the waste gate and made sure the lever was closing all the way. Only thing I haven't done is check axial play haven't had time. I will go check it right now wont take a few minutes.

So it all worked until now? Still runs fine?

What are you reading with? It seems like it could just be a sensor/gauge problem

It feels like the turbo is falling under the fuel at mid to top end. Hard to explain. It smokes more than usual. Now that I think about it it hasnt boosted to 28 since the turbo bark. The gauge is a autolite II. Hose seems alright.

Turbo bark is irrelevant to your problem. I wouldn't be looking at the turbo.
Brian, Where would you suggest I start looking? Like to get some ideas going for this weekend, will not have time during the week. 12 hr shifts 2 month old...dont have much time during the week.
What do think could be wrong with the intercooler? Dont think much could plug it up.

The lowest the my compressor gauge goes is 40. So i set a few turns lower than 40.
And I was putting constant pressure on it. Would I hold pressure if there are valves open? It did hold but it seems like I did this a few years ago and it didnt hold.

I'd put a constant 20 or 30psi on and spray the whole intercooler and connections with soap and water and look for bubbles. If there's a leak, you'll find it.

Was I supposed to put 20 psi on it and pull the air off to see if it held?

I've got a ball valve on my tester so I open that up till I get 20psi and shut it. If I hear lots of air I'll leave it open a little to try find the leak. But, I like to shut the valve so I can listen for air leaks and not the sound of air coming into the system.
