Where is the best place to mount the vaccum tube for boost guage under the hood? I already have it mounted in one of the silicone boots on the intercooler tube, but in hindsight that does not seem like it was the best idea. If possible could a pic be posted? I am just thinking that if I am able to create more than the 20psi it makes now, I will probably blow it out.

splice into the waste gate line

I personally don't recommend this method as it will give a false reading rather than actual boost pressure that your engine is receiving. It is easier, yes but it will read higher than what your engine sees. I would tap the signal line post intercooler as close to the engine as reasonably possible.

i don't do it either but the way i do do it isn't something most people can whip up in their drive.

You can delete the intake air heater and put it in the plug you use to block it off. I've seen a link to one that is already drilled and tapped.
