are you talking about the aluminum riser with the egr ports on it?

Yes

Just for kicks, I'm going to run my second boost gauge this weekend and tap into the intake riser, just to see if there is a difference in reading from there and the driver boost tube pre intercooler. Probably wont tell me anything, but it will at least be cool to watch two boost gauges side by side.

Mines in the boost tube after it comes out of the turbo

I have always put mine post intercooler on all turbo motors, since there is a boost drop through the intercooler and piping. (I have never cared what the turbo was putting out but rather what the motor was seeing:dontknow:) On my old powerchoke I had a boost gauge pre and post intercooler and usually saw about a 4 psi drop, but that was only at 33lbs.

Let us know Larry, I may move mine if the results are different. Mine is in the turbo outlet as well

On my LLY it's tapped off the SD manifold right before the intake/EGT riser. I don't think that is where it was meant to go but Like Turbo Buick, I want to see what the engine is getting.

mine is in a SuperDiesel intake manifold. I'd like to have pre & post intercooler boost readings though.

My plans are to install the 2nd gauge this weekend, I have all the plumbing, a new "2 gauge mount" and the 2nd gauge ready to go. I guess I could do a little DIY writeup on it. I'll get some pics of the gauges under full boost as well. I really am curious as to how much is lost at the intercooler and if changing to a bigger one would be worth it, say a PPE or a Banks........I would probably go the PPE route myself.

Anybody have any opinions as to whether a bigger intercooler is worth the money?

I've been told not much to gain until you go above 40-45psi. Then you start seeing some more significant gains or reduced losses as compared to the stock unit. I don't have any personal experience with this yet though. A good friend is thinking of trying one out and I suppose I'll know first-hand at that point. I'll keep youposted. :D

Something like this should work :D It's 2 cores that are good for 1200hp each (on a gasser) welded together. Don't know if you can get something this thick to fit on a D-Max (if I remember right its 4" thick), but I have been thinking about making another one and trying it ;) By the way, only part of the tanks are tacked on in this pic.

Its non-flamable citris stuff, and that welder is a piece of junk that doesn't get used. All my nice machines are inverters and have sholder straps  they weigh between 24lbs and I thnk my heaviest one weighs just under 50
