Body mount nut spun off

Has anyone had to repair a welded nut that has spun loose? I have a couple ideas but looking to discuss with you guys. I cut the head off the bolt to lift the cab.

could you drill a small hole like 1/4" right next to the bolt hole, close enough to see the nut and tack weld the nut to the frame? that may help you get the old bolt out and maybe enough room to weld more of the nut to keep it from spinning when putting it back together

Could you drill 2 or 3 small holes around the bottom and plug weld the nut back to the body?

I was thinking same as you guys. Try a couple plug welds. If that doesn't work I was going to hole saw it out and then weld in a plate with a nut pre welded on.

I don't know if I'd hole saw it, I'd probably cut a window in the side close to the bottom. Then weld the nut back in and weld the window back up.

I broke a cab bolt off on my truck, been wondering how I’m going to fix it. A couple guys told me to pull the carpet up, use a hole saw pull it out and get a plastic plug to plug the hole saw hole. There’s an idea.

Personally that is last on my list of possibilities. For one, the cab is in the air. And two, I hate messing in interiors

Cut the bolt off flush, drill 1" hole with drill bit not hole saw. Get an oversized washer weld nut to it and then weld washer to the cab. On the same lines as your welding the nut to a plate. But a 1" drill bit will stay centered on existing hole where a hole saw would be hard to keep centered.

Drill two 1/4" holes 180º apart and plug weld the capture nut. Weld a nut over the bolt shoulder and plug weld that too. Shoot some penetrating oil and impact the bolt out.
