I'm fairly certain I need to do head gaskets on my '06 LBZ, but curiousity got to me and I bought one of those Lesle combustion chamber leak kits. You know the one where the blue liquid turns yellow after exposed to gases emminating from the coolant.
My question is: How dependable are the results? I feel I did the test correctly, but oddly enough I was disapointed when the fluid stayed nice and blue. Anybody have similar results?

I bet the tester isn't gonna work for you. If your worried about head gaskets, pull your thermostats out and start the truck and keep filling up the thermostat housing with water until it tops off. Then watch for which side air bubbles come from.. That will tell you which head has an issue.

Why do you think you need to do head gaskets?

onebaddmax,
I can't keep coolant in, temps fluctuate and originally I had a lot of soot in the coolant tank. I mechanic replaced my EGR cooler with a used one, the soot stopped, but the system stays pressurized for days and a low coolant level warning comes on about every 30-40 miles. There is no visible leaks or steam. Other than these things, the truck runs good.
