A friend of mine called me a little while ago and said he thought he blew his truck up, he is also a Team Salad member ( jalanv1). So i went up there to take a look at it. The truck is a 05 LLY factory charger, with only EFI tuning. Its idleing very rough and it blew oil out of the exhaust and its leaking from somewhere down across the bellhousing. He said it made a loud pop then the white smoke rolled. It also smokes white all the time now. The turbo sounds like its trying to spool up but it doesnt. The only thing i could get off EFI was cylinder #7 misfire. Any thoughts? Turbo? Or do we have major problems, like a piston? Any other things to check?

yes one for each piston i cracked, plus rough idle and white smoke, did you check the oil fill cap? if its a cracked piston there will be pressure in the crank and you will be able to feel it comin outa the oil fill tube

Sounds like a piston not bad pulling motor just take your time and mark all your parts and bag all your bolts and mark what there for.

Buddy I really wasn't ready for this either. But I guess I have to arrange to pull it. I need to figure out what we will do as the new parts! Any ideas?

Hey Rip,

Your right part of the game, I never had the truck on the dyno. But I roughly figure I was right around 500-520max. My EGT's has seen 1600 when I'm doing a truck pull, but generally I leave off the throttle when I would see 1400. This would be when I was on the street, I have always been told that 12-14seconds down the track on a sled pull wouldn't hurt me @ 1600 degrees.

I was passing a FORD, on a 2 lane road (I was maybe going 75-80) when I heard the pop, then white smoke rolled out of my stack. Any suggestions on new parts?

Thanks for your info.

Jim what i think we need to do is get the motor out, get inside and find the bad parts and then go from there. We can get parts but we just need to know whats really wrong before we get any parts.
Us three just need to get together and come up with a game plan.

Tell Joy it will be ok!!!!!!!!

Guys I have been thinking and reviewing all the different post on my same problem. I read that everone had trip codes when they had cracked pistons, I had nothing. No engine light no codes, does this mean maybe not a cracked piston. Or am I hoping for the good?

I had a trip code about 2 weeks prior @ a truck pull PO500, which I have been unable to find and understand what this was.
