Just went back down from 35's to my old 285 cooper stt's and had a blow out tonight. The tire was still 3/4 tread and a little over year old. Guess the belt broke. Scary as hell, felt like I was going to sh*t my pants and total the truck at the same time!!! Maybe if I complain directly to Cooper they will give me a new one????

On the bright side, had a nice red PS get beside me on interstate with big exhaust, gauges etc...and whooped his tail on a donut tire!!!!

No surprisingly....I'm running wheel spacers so I've been pretty cautious for any abnormal vibrations. Doing about 65mph....kinda sounded like a jake brake then yeah got very squirmy. I think my rim is okay. No visible damage to the lip. It was smokin hot too!!!! lol

That is very dangerous.....I've seen that happen to a few other cooper tires. Wonder what the company will say about it. Yeah it's over a year old but that crap shouldn't happen. Look at my spare 8 year old donut tire. It has saved my ass numerous times and still going strong.

:( We had one of those blow on the back of Blue with Casper in tow.

Glad you didn't take your fender like it did on Blue.

HAHA no it doesn't Tim.....

Construction
Type: Radial

Tread
Construction: 1-Ply nylon
2-Ply steel
3-Ply Polyester

Sidewall
Construction: 3-Ply Polyester

That would be nice if I could get 4 new tires out of the deal. Fortunately there was no damage though to the truck.

Eeek! I've seen things get bad after blowing a tire, I'm glad to see you kept all four on the ground. BTW, just in case you don't know, it's bad to keep two different diameter tires on one of these rears.

Correct. I swapped a front with the back right and put the spare up front.

I looked closer at the tire today. Appears to be a large hole probably 1/4" wide dead middle of tread. Regardless of that puncture, I highly doubt it would result in the entire sidewall blowing out. Better not deny my claim  Calling Cooper customer service tomorrow.
