Block Tested the truck the other day because of my stiff upper hose problem and my worries of a blown HG. Blocked test, no bubbles, no color change. So my next guess would be thermostats? Bought new AcDelco thermostats yesterday, so my question is does anyone have a step by step on changing the thermostats on a LB7?

Drain a little coolant out of the radiator lower passenger side of the radiator take off upper soft hose then take the 12mm bolt out of the valve covers holding the hard pipe down. Next undue the 12mm bolts holding the thermostat housing and bingo.

forgot you need to undue the turbo coolant line I don't have one so I forgot. Also like tom said id put a new cap on first see if that helps

Just need to take the bolts out of the valve cover and the four out of the thermostat housing. Pipe doesn't need to be unbolted nor does the hose need to be disconnected. Takes the risk of ruining the o ring and the hose can be a real wh*re to disconnect as well. Also I dont think the turbo line absolutely needs to come off.

So basically undo the bolts that hold down the upper radiator hose down onto the valve cover, undo thermostat cover bolts, lift cover up, remove old thermos, clean area, place in new ones, bolt everything back up, bingo?
