How in the heck do you get the intake piece that goes into the y bridge off? I can wiggle it around but cant get it free. Do I need to take the thermostat off? And what size orings are they?

It's trickey to get out, but I've done it enough now that I can usually get it out in a few minutes . You need to wiggle it around until it just gets in the right place to allow it to come out. Getting it back in is more fun . I found that getting it back in is easiest accomplished by removing the A/C compressor, and using a long (at least 24") 3/8 drive extension and either a deadblow hammer or rubber mallet to tap each side back in place. I got a bag of them from Fastenail that if they're not the exact same O-Ring GM charges $45 for, they're **** close... PM Me your address and I'll send you a set.

Is it possilbe without taking the thermostat or anything else off? was that on your LLY engine or the LBZ that you can do it easy now

LBZ. I've replaced the O-Rings like 4 times since I first blew the elbow out when I reved the engine like a tard without the intake being supported and blew it out. I keep killing them becasue my custom fabbed EGR delete intake (VERY similar to Rick's LLY EGR Delete pipe except built for the LBZ) isn't quite right and my friend and I are going to fix it when we pull the motor back out in a few weeks.

Keep playing with it. Your LBZ is the same as my LMM and it's fustrating trying to getthem in and out. You have to twist is sideways the perfect amount to get it out. Comes out easy as pie when you get it right. Never had to use any bars to get them in or out.

I've been twisting and twisting and pulling and pulling. I'll keep trying. It wouldn't have happened but like you Cougar, my egr delete pipe isn't perfect. One of the two supports didn't fit correctly so I had to leave it off.. I had one WOT run and the next one it blew...

Okay Ive got it kinda back in with the orings reset on the pipe. They didn't actually break but they got expanded so its tough to get them back in. This will be temp till I get a new set... but looking down on the bridge I can still see about a 1/8 gap between the bridge and the intake piece... Is there supposed to be zero gap? I know in a perfect world there woudn't but its sooo tight in there I dont see how it can go in more... is there or isnt there a gap supposed to be showing

Like I said earler, I found tapping the sides in with an extension and rubber mallet or deadblow hammer to work best... YMMV.

Cougar do you have a part or model number for the fastenal oring set?

0480824 - It's a Buna-N70 #237 and can only be burchased in 50pc bags. I've still got like 42 of them.

I put the original that I still have and only has a chunk missing from it and one of the new ones on the intake, and aside from the chunk missing from the original. I couldn't tell them apart.
