LB7: Blew a gasket.

No more than two weeks with the new turbo and I blew my headgaskets

Worst thing is, is that they were done a little over a year ago and I contemplated doing ARP studs back then and said to myself naa I wasn't going to get a bigger turbo.

I am lucky though that it is not pushing coolant out at an idle or anything below 15psi of boost so it is still drivable.

The stealer wants $3100 in labour and $1500 in parts to fix so I told them to shove it.

I am really pissed because I know that it doesn't take 27.5 hrs to do a headgasket job and they wouldn't drop the hours because it is flat rate and they a making a ton of money by doing that. My ex GM diesel technician says he can do them in 12hrs so in a month he is going to do mine and I already have the ARP head studs in my possession.

Sorry to hear this. Who did the head gaskets last time. Was it a warranty job or what?

The dealership did the head gaskets the last time but I am out of the one year warranty for them and I don't think that they would have covered it due to the fact that they know what I am doing to my truck and know I was running 40psi of boost with an aftermarket turbo.

I live in a small town so word gets around fast of what I've done.

minus head bolts head gaskest replacement runs~250 in parts not including coolant

oem head bolts run 110 by themselelvs

Injector cups were redone a year ago so what could have caused them to go again?

My cups started leaking and i only ran a little over 40 psi.

250 for all of the parts? Are you sure?

i did mine with stock head bolts i paid ~370

the doesnt include oil, oil filter, or 6 gallons of dexacool (~100.00 worth)either that would put you around 500 bones.. unles you broke something during the disassembly or the assemble

i bought
head gaskest left 80 right 120= ~200.00
head bolts 110 for 34 botls = ~110
8 short inj return line seals and 2 tall inj return line ~50 bucks
RTV black sealant under 10 bucks... greg hooked me up with the GM adhesive for the vlv covers

so yah...... that is a R&R job

studs would put that around the 1100$ range

i strongly recomned going back to green coolant dexacool it preto based and doesnt turn the oil white/milky when mixed together
