Howdy I am new to the forum but see there is a wealth of experience. I had a 2003 Yukon conversion a couple of years ago. A 2006 3/4 ton was the donor for engine and transmission. All was good until I had to replace leaking transmission lines where I had to disconnect the air filter and intake to get to the lines below. Fixed the transmission leak but not have black smoke while accelerating at speeds. Tap shift works fine and does not smoke because RPM rev with down shifting. It appease when climbing a hill or tall bridge when escalator is pushed to keep speed up the truck does not since the peddle being masked down and additional fuel so the black smoke starts to roll out of the exhaust. Also I hooked up my trailer and same thing happens except on just a small over pass. Like I said it appears the peddle and transmission are not talking to each other at cursing speed. Fuel dumped with no RPM to burn it correctly. I have leaned Air Aid air filter, replace MAS and replaced fuel filter. No lights on the dash. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Check intercooler boots and pipes. Since you were down in that area to fix leaking lines something might have rubbed a hole in an intercooler boot/pipe. That is the best place to start.

I had to change my brakes on that side so I pulled off the wheel well cover and looked at the pipe coupleing and all looks ok and snug.
