I went to Winterport dragway 1/8th mile on sunday , 2.5 hr drive . This was my very first time drag racing ever . I entered into the diesel drags sponsored by a local diesel place . I had 3 time trials and raced 6 times . Ended up placing 3rd , beat only by a fellow duramax guy at his home track . best times are as follows .
tree 0.500
dial in 9.000
reaction 0.852
60' 1.913
330 5.785
mph 75.00
finish 9.090

My times were all over the place high of 10.xxx
and most 60' were 2.2xx and mph were all very close to the 75 mph mark
my first time trial was bad ,,,,,,,, i over shot the staging lane and had to back up  then launched and didnt get out of 1st and dash went crazy with check engine light and service brake something in the dtc . i could not get it out of 1st drove easy to the big pit area and then it would go into neutral anytime i tried to drive . well it seems i had a wire come loose that runs from transfer case to tranny that got caught in front driveshaft . Fixed that with some tape and zip ties .
looking at the videos it seems like i have plenty of fuel . but what i dont understand is that it doesnt seem to pull hard till i get about 100ft from the end . any thoughts??? constructive criticism is welcome also .

need a lift pump , my lb7 always has and still does hold the best rail pressure in the higher gears . just a guess though

Looks like you got plenty of fuel, you need more air or turbo in a bottle. I wonder what your rail pressure is doing though, lift pump is a good idea. Lower your T-bars down all the way, and clamp the front section of your rear springs if you haven't already. Build more boost on the launch. Might want to talk to Rob on why the tune doesn't seem to want to run till the end.

Ken i was thinking the excess smoke was from low rail , i could be wrong though .

is the converter locking up when its supposed to?

Good point Ben

Ben Im not sure if its locking or not . I did run in t/h mode . I will probably try your DIY trick with the lock up led light thing to see if its locking down low .If I knew how to log I would try  funny part is it feels faster from 60 - 120 mph than it does from 0 - 60

Trent I will definitely be getting a lift pump . But is the idea that maybe im loosing rail pressure and the fuel isnt atomizing enough to burn fully ???

Subman I thought that i read a thread where you should start by boosting to 2000 and adjust from there . I only got to maybe 2100 rpm and not once got it to spin off the line . I never changed the pressures in tire ... 48psi iirc and I do have some El cheapo spring clamps for now

Obviously you need to run it up higher. Just for kicks and giggles go out on a back road and put it in 4 wheel and try some launches. Main thing is to see what you TC will do. You don't actually have to launch, just brake hard and run up the RPM and see where she blows through the brakes. Check your boost while you are doing all of this. My 07 I leave the line at about 2600 rmp, it will hold till about 2800. I would definetly air down the tires. I'd run say 30 in the front and 28 or so in the back for starters, you can go much lower than that if you have to but I doubt you will or now. You want a little wheel spin but not too much. T-bars down help a bunch. Didn't ck your signature for you tire size, but big meats and lifts don't help, I don't remember is you have a lift or not. Yes on the rail pressure and insufficient pressure to atomize the fuel.
