EFILive Big update coming this week

As posted on our forum by Ross yesterday, this week we have a HUGE release planned.

The most exciting part of this release for the Duramax crowd will be the reading/writing to the ECM with our V8 software. In many cases read times will be slashed by half!

In addition, we will add support for 2 brand new Gasser ECM's - the E78 and the E39.

To see what is planned in this release, and to be notified when it's available you can read the thread and subscribe to it here http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?14319-Big-update-coming-this-week

Cheers

Cindy, you guys are incredible. :D

Nice work, as always!!

Just out of curiosity, what gassers use the E78 and E39?

The E39 can be found in the below 2010-11 V6 vehicles. It's expected that the ECM will be used for a number of years replacing the Bosch ECM's on the SIDI engines.

Buick LaCrosse
Buick Regal
Cadillac SRX
Cadillac CTS
Chevrolet Equinox
GMC Terrain
Holden Commodore

The E78 looks like a replacement for the E38 & E67 ECM's that were released in 2006.

It's available in dealers now in the Silverado/Sierra 6.0L, and will be in the below vehicles when they are released in a couple of weeks

Chevrolet Cruze
Cadillac Escalade
Chevrolet Avalanche/Suburban/Tahoe
GMC Yukon/Denali

All are 6.0L's except for the Cruze which is a 1.4L

The release of these 2 controllers will setup our gasser workshop customers for the next few years.

I think our release post left out the biggest positive for us and our customers. That is that the development process has been streamlined significantly. These controllers are only available in V8, and as V8 has developed we've taken out all the tasks that delay/hinder/make it difficult to add additional support in the shortest possible timeframe. Ross only invested 1/2 of the amount of time on these 2 new ECM's if we compared it to development time under V7.

I'll stop teasing now :) probably the biggest thing for our Duramax customers is hidden about 1/2 way through Ross's post.......

The third new ECM we also plan to partially incorporate in to this release is the 2011 LML Duramax E86 ECM. This will be ECM read only, but it will allow us to build a nice library of different factory tunes for them. This ECM is a 100% new design from Bosch with very little in common with the outgoing LMM E35 ECM, so some long days are ahead for us!

Good stuff, hopefully the new ECM will be easy for you guys! I can't wait to see what people start doing with the new engine. Where would we be without EFILive???

So EFI will only cost half as much now? LOLOL

That's funny Ed :)

We have 4 years of R&D to get where we are at the moment that hasn't produced any income, so it's going to take a long time to recover the costs. The real advantage is that we should be able to support double the additional controllers in the same period of time, and make software enhancements that customers request in a much speedier fashion.

The quote in bold really has confused me from day one.. EFILive stated they wanted some reads of the ECM.. Did they say this before actually having one inside the office and attempting first..?? I don't think that can be possible as they have to crack the seed/key first before pulling the bin file.

So since they wanted reads, that means they must of read from the ECM right since they wanted the general public to read...

Obviously not as they had to develop to read. Then, we get the memo that the ECM's can't be read and that is the story today.

So was the bold quote a guess that support would be no problem, or did the fear of GM coming after them for DPF Deletes regarding 2011's decide to make them can it since HP Tuners no longer allows DPF's to be removed within their programming.

Not starting a war, just wondering.. :)

Hp tunners doesnt offer anything past 10 either... sent them an email askign if they will support 11 and newer dmax tonight
read up on the efi live forum that ross wont touch this like the black plague.

my biggest thing is the driveability part of the tune..

Most LML guys don't mind the acceleration of the LML. I can't stand it, my VW TDI will smoke this truck from a dig.. ( No lie :D) .

Unless you stand on it and do a brake boost you're not going to win any redlight battles either.. ;)

Some major refinement for us folks that like POWER need to have that option. EFILive isn't going to do it, that's fine. H&S isn't doing it either.. I haven't tried a QUAD yet.. good reviews but I still think the same "dead pedal" feel is there also with it.

I've head a rumor that SCT is looking into supporting the LML, that's better than nothing but I don't see it happening.

PPE, well, we know that story.. No pun intended. :)

both my dmaxs i run/ran had legit linear thorttles. when i bored doing tunes thats how i sent them out.. only had one person say it was "too touchy" for them..

the torque mangement KILLS mpg.

with little timing and boost increase removed almsot all TM.. you would think my 250hp dmax was 350hp even they way it moves a 9 ton trailer down an on ramp is impressive and i havent increased the fuelling!

that off the line power is need big time for me.. especially when monovering on hillside with full load... i dont want to be trying to go up a hill and be sitting stalled out putting termendous heat in the convertor..
